Public Places is an indie rock band formed by childhood friends in the surfing town of Baler, Aurora. The band’s brand of modest indie rock imbued with a blunt lo-fi seaside hook alludes to the band’s Baler roots, and their penchant for writing clever hooks is reflective of the members’ collective experiences as members of other hook-laden bands such as We are Imaginary, The Strange Creatures, and Bubblegoo.
Since forming in 2018, the band has quickly become favorites in and outside of their hometown. The band’s debut single, “3 Lefts = 1 Right” was released in 2019 to rave reviews, introducing local indie fans to Public Places’ music and immediately drawing comparisons to acts such as Real Estate, Swimming Tapes, and Ultimate Painting.
